Festival 2023 Bulletin #8

Dear paddlers,

The registration platform has “officially” closed, however we are still accepting some late registrations and changes. Meri (because she seems to know everyone) has reconciled all the registrations with the administration staff. We have 84 teams registered from 14 countries, across 6 continents. We have had some cancellations but we have also received more enrolments, so it has been a case of “swings and roundabouts” with the final numbers.

The Revolutionise Sport (REV) platform is open, albeit a few days late due to technical issues with the host platform in Australia. Andrew is fielding a few questions - most are easily resolved. Once the REV platform closes, we will announce all the registered teams. Prior to doing this we need to cross check the registrations for all teams, individual paddlers and supporters.

Once all this information is collated, Brooke will be asking you to supply her with a short biography of your team and a photo. This will go into the programme catalogue.

Thank you to those registering on the REV platform. So that we ensure we are working with the correct team, could you please sign off any email queries to us with your team name. Quite simply this is because many teams have similar names.

We are excited to let you know that we are sharing the first two festival merchandise links.

We have been working very closely with a Hamilton based jeweller to design some special pieces in sterling silver to create a memory of the festival. The items will also be available in gold. The gold price will depend on the gold ingot value at the time of order.

The items can be collected at the festival or posted to you.

You can follow them on their socials: Facebook or Instagram.

We have also been working closely with Hornet Water Sports to design the carbon fibre festival memorial paddles. Hornet ran a design competition and we then “tweaked” the designs to reflect the essence of the festival. We have three styles to choose from. They all have strong New Zealand elements in them. The unfurling koru which you will see in two of the designs represents new beginnings and we are sure you will feel the same when you see the depth of the design. The Mountain mosaic paddle is reflective of the mountains and the kaleidoscope of colours in a New Zealand sunrise and sunset. The back and front differ. You are seeing the front first then the back in each set of images. There are only three designs in total.

They can be pre-ordered via the REV platform.

They are named left to right:

1. Green Koru

2. Purple Koru

3. Mountain mosaic

Reminder that final payments are due 30th August 2022 and the REV platform closes 30th September 2022.
